About Chad Toporski

Chad Toporski holds a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from California University of Pennsylvania (2014) and a B.S.Ed. in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2009). His certifications by the Pennsylvania Department of Education include an Instructional II for Music (PK-12) and an Administrative I for Principal (PK-12).

Prior to attending college, Chad served as a French horn player in the U.S. Army for four years (2001-2005). He was stationed in Ft. Lee, VA, where he played with the 392nd Army Band, and Ft. Bliss, TX, as a member of the 62nd Army Band. In high school, he also played regularly with the Ringgold Band of Reading, PA.

Chad is proud to be the Quaker Valley Middle School choral director as of January 2025. Previously, he taught for 14 years at Hopewell Memorial Jr. High School as the chorus and general music teacher. His additional duties during that time included Producer of the Jr. High Musical, Jr. High Drama Club Sponsor, Music Director for the High School Musical, and Assistant Marching Band Director. He is honored to serve as the PMEA District 5 President-Elect, as of July 2020.

A dedicated member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) and National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Chad serves as President on the PMEA District 5 Executive Board and as a member of the PMEA State Board. He is a strong advocate for all students having quality, meaningful, and equitable access to music education at all levels.

Chad continues to perform as a French horn player with the West Hills Symphonic Band and West Hills Woodwind Quintet, while also serving as their President of the Board of Directors. He is an avid composer, arranger, and orchestrator, and he continues to write for various ensembles both professionally and for personal interest.

In his free time, Chad enjoys playing the piano for leisure, riding his bike outdoors, listening to podcasts, playing tabletop and video games, traveling around the world, cooking, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. He currently lives happily with his husband and two cats in the Pittsburgh area.
